James Springall (b. 1977, Middlesbrough, UK) is an artist known for reappropriating found imagery. His collages, photomontages and readymades question the ownership of images, address societal issues and explore the human condition. His work has been shown in group exhibitions at the Royal Academy of Arts and Saatchi Gallery in London, Towner Gallery in Eastbourne, Feinkunst Krüger in Hamburg and LESS Festival in Viborg. Published in The Age of Collage 3 (Gestalten) and featured by magazines including AnOther, Elephant and HUCK, it has been commissioned by brands including Rough Trade, Noble Rot and VICE. He has curated exhibitions of contemporary collage for Jealous Gallery in London and The Viborg Kunsthal in Denmark. He lives and works near Rye, East Sussex.
